While Oskar is going door to door, people seem to know his
name even if he isn't sure he told them who he was. This happened a couple of
times and it seems a little peculiar to me. Oskar is very observant and smart
and I think that he wouldn’t forget so easily if he already told someone his
name. It is possible that Oskar is being paranoid, but I don’t think so. Could it be that this chase for the key is
planned and that’s why people seem to know his name? I think it is possible that someone set up the scavenger hunt for Oskar, like his father used to, and called all the people with the last name Black to give them a heads up.
Maybe someone put it in the news or something about a boy named Oskar on a search for everyone with the last name Black to find the source of a key. But that does seem strange, might want to bring it up in class tomorrow
ReplyDeleteI believe that maybe someone else knows about his plans to look for all the Blacks and find the lock for the key. The people he meets know a lot about him, even though they have never met him before. For example, the rich lady he visited knew that he collected coins even though he didn't tell her that. Remember how he told Abby about his plan and she claimed to know nothing, but he could tell she was lying. Maybe she has something to do with it and is somehow contacting the other Black's before Oskar and trying to help him solve the mystery?
ReplyDeleteI thought this was kind of strange too... Maybe Mr. Black has something to do with it? He seems a bit strange as well, as if he knows more than he is letting others believe.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Katie that Mr. Black might have something to do with the lock and key search because after being in his house for 24 years, he suddenly leaves to go on a scavenger hunt with a nine year boy. It does seem a little bit strange.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that too, and it is possible that Mr. Black does have something to do with the key, but I feel like Oskar is also just very paranoid at the same time and is kind of getting almost tired and forgetful (about what he has told someone about himself) since he as been visiting so many people.
